RECORDERS
Tape
I'm a decent knowledge of the process of recording to tape, with training on a 2" 24 track Saturn reel-to-reel tape machine, used on some mastering projects also. I'm a relatively confident Tape operator.
I'm also occasional user of DAT tape systems and portable location recorders.
Skills
In May 2014 Phil finished a degree in sound engineering and design at the School of Sound Recording, Manchester although doing great in his degree, he strived to get better all the time and master his craft. Utilising the Studios and Live venue to their maximum, Phil was spending more time at a desk than he was at home (literally true at frequent points!). As well as assisting for FOH at the Stroud Fringe Festival and briefly interning at Moles Studio, Bath
Although specialising in studio and live sound, Phil has also done projects in Acoustic Design, Post-production, composition and remixes including official remix for the Manchester based band - Boy Del Mundo. Phil also produces electronic music under the alias's Philthy and Drudge and DJ's on a frequent basis from deep dubstep to pop classics.

Experienced with a broad use of live consoles, including: Behringer X32, Avid D-show Venue, various Midas and Allen and Heath Analog consoles
Studio Consoles
Vast experience of a range of digital and analog consoles including: various Soundcraft analog consoles, 32 channel Amek Einstein analog console, 48 channel SSL G console, C24 digital console, Icon Digital 5.1 surround console, Digico digital console and a 42 channel Neve VR legend (used to record such artists as the Doves, The Stone roses, Wheatus, Mr. Scruff and massive attack - however sadly not with me on the desk!)

Luckily I've been able to work with a very extensive microphone collection, with a good knowledge of the sound and applications for each.

Hardware
A lover of analog gear! With heavy use of TLA, Drawmer, urei, Neve, Avalon, Manley, Joe meek, Lexicon, DBX and lot's of others. And know how to use them well too! Even though a well experienced user of plug ins, sometimes you can get so much more out of a nice piece of outboard.
MONITORING
Very good at addapting to different monitors in different acoustical environments. favour ATC, PMC and Adam monitoring systems as well as the obvious NS10's. personally using mackie MR5 MKII monitors.
SOFTWEAR
Pro Tools
A frequent user of pro tools HD with Pro tools 101 certification
Logic
with 7 years of logic Pro use, a very experienced operator especially in midi and synthesis.
Reason
A user of reason for many years for very advanced synthesis, usually as a ReWired tool in logic
INSTRUMENTS
DJ Equipment
A collector and DJ of vinyl records, with a great knowledge of lot's of DJ mixers (plus, not a red-line in sight!)
Also more than capable of using NI Traktor scratch with up to four track decks.
Synthesizers
With a very in-depth knowledge of synthesizers and synthesis, I can work my way around the most complicated of synthesizers and use them to their highest potential
Drums
used to be a grade 5 session drummer but sadly haven't played in a few years so quite rusty! however the sense of rythm helps!
